This morning we awoke to the wonderful news that Matt’s brother and his wife were in the hospital awaiting the arrival of their first little baby, a girl. A few hours later she had arrived, healthy and beautiful as ever looking just like her mama. We are so stinkin happy for them and can’t wait to meet her in person in just over a month.
So I stumbled out of bed and decided to make a pot of coffee using a sample packet of Folgers new “Gourmet Roast” that had come with an ad in the Sunday paper. Bad idea. Folgers is and always will be Folgers, and there’s no way to gourmet it up. It was frankly undrinkable. (Although, with full disclosure, I was a big fan of Folgers Special Roast back in college when I had neither the money nor the finely tuned tastebuds that I have now.)
For the past two days I’ve been stranded at home because we’re having mysterious electrical problems with our car which were supposed to have been fixed last week while I had the loaner car, but seem to have re-appeared. So I’ve been put to work as Matt’s admin photocopying papers that he needs to apply for his national board certification. Today my task is a simple one – take five stacks down to the post office and mail them off in overnight envelopes to various and sundry folks across the States.
Except I’m going to have to waddle down to the Post Office. And it’s raining out. And I haven’t had real coffee yet today. And then I need to clean the entire house because the doula is coming over tomorrow and um… I have a quilt-in-progress strewn across the dining room table, a bathroom without a door, and wet cabinet doors drying in the breakfast nook.
But I have a beautiful new niece! Dah Who Dor-aze!

i like the new facelift to your blog! you are so cute! oh, and re: coffee yums, the new instant coffee that starbucks put out (called ‘via’) is absolutely amazing. you can mix in into hot or cold water/milk and it is sooo convenient because it comes in little packets. they are still giving out free samples and i’ve been asking for one every time i go to the bux. anyway it’s worth a shot and free to try, so i thought i’d mention it!
