I took a slew of photos today to update you on the progress at the house, but I wanted to quickly devote a whole post to my absolute favorite item in the entire house so far.
I picked out this new light fixture on Amazon for the bathroom way back when, and finally got it installed. When I removed the ugly old 70s fixture, there was a bunch of repair that had to happen on the wall behind it. So Matt kindly spackled the gouging hole closed, and I sanded and repainted it before installing the new light. I had to work my electrical magic since the wiring was pretty old and certainly not grounded, while the light fixture was. But I guessed right on the first try and now she brightens up the whole room!
Here are the before and afters. Now before you go all “What a crappy paint job you did up by the ceiling!” on me… we plan on putting up crown moulding, so I wasn’t very careful. OK!? OK!

what are you doing to keep that windowsill from getting yucky with the moisture of the shower? remember the shower window in xenia (from which i viewed a slain deer hanging from a tree)?

we have yet to shower in there yet, but since the tile guy told us to wipe down the tile w/ a towel after each shower, we’ll probably do the same with the window to prevent it from getting yucky. or we’ll put up a shower curtain on the other side if it winds up getting injured.

and a slain deer? are you serious? although that’s not too hard for me to imagine.

Awesome update! We love it, especially along with your title. Thanks so much for sending us the link to your blog. It’s always fun to poke around and see what people are up to and your house looks like it’s already undergoing quite the presto change-o! Good luck with everything!
