My Current Wallpaper
From Daily Daguerreotype
A few years ago my good friend Steph sent me a “Virginia is for lovers” t-shirt for my birthday. It was one of those inside jokes that always makes me smile whenever I put it on, or whenever Matt pulls it out of my dresser because I haven’t gotten around to washing the whites yet and he needs something to go under a dress shirt.
While Virginia is a beautiful place and certainly one for lovers, I have to argue that after visiting Bariloche, Argentina, there is no place on earth where it’s easier to fall in love. Everywhere you look is a scenic vista that takes your breath away. And then you sit down to a dinner of grass-fed beef and local Malbec, it’s hard not to want to pour compliments out on every person in sight.
I’ve set this photo as the wallpaper on my computer because in one look it sums up all of the emotion that I felt while on our Argentinean vacation. This is the man I love and the place where I fell in love with him all over again.

You are wonderful…
So, I’ve decided that you must accompany Ben and I on our honeymoon to photo document our journey into marriage…. of course, since he’s forcing me to stop inviting/ uninvite people from our honeymoon, we’ll have to keep it on the DL.
Can’t wait to get off my filtered work computer and over to Caribou to check out all your pics!!!!!

What a great shot!! That must have been a truly wonderful trip - I’m so glad you guys went and enjoyed yourselves and renewed your love for each other
I’m sure this trip will forever be in your memories as truly special. Hooray! (I’m curious: what made you choose Argentina?)
P.S. What kind of camera do you have? I’m asking for a DSL for Christmas but am only barely getting into photography… any advice would be really helpful!
Miss you guys!

thanks! argentina was kind of a whim when we decided we wanted to see “all of patagonia” which is nearly impossible to do in one trip. i’ve got a nikon d40, which i really enjoy. i’ve also seen a lot of people take great shots with a canon EOS, so take a look at that one. i’m not thrilled w/ the lens that comes as a default w/ the d40, but i got a new sigma zoom lens to use when we went to patagonia, and i think it takes much nicer shots.
we MISS you guys! hope to see you when you’re visiting NE again soon. i know we always say that, but we really need to set a date!

what lens did you buy? i found a package deal that comes with two lenses - 18-55mmmm and 55-200mm…
SSsssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss

drool! i have both of those lenses and absolutely LOVE the 55-200mm. my 18-55mm is a nikon, and the 550-200 is a sigma. to be honest, i love the sigma and it’s much cheaper than the nikon lens, so you might save a bit of money by getting the standard 18-55mm lens package and then purchasing a sigma zoom separately. but maybe not!

Yeah, I found a Nikon D40 package that includes both, so I think I’ll go for it. I couldn’t find any Sigma 55-200mm lenses that were cheaper… I am SOO excited!!! I liked my old point and shoot camera, but it got stolen, and the replacement I bought I’m really disappointed with. So might as well go for the SLR, right? haha.
Can’t wait to join what AJ calls “the nerdy club.”
Thanks for your advice!
