Whole belly fried clams

From Daily Daguerreotype

Before heading home from the Cape on Sunday, we stopped in at the Weatherdeck for some delicious fried clams. In New England, “fried clams” generally means the whole clam including the belly. If you can’t handle the belly you ask for “fried clam strips.” But we’re a whole belly family, and will gladly pay the $16.25 for a pint of fried clams to split between us. Although there’s generally a bloody fistfight over the last one, and Sunday was no exception.
